The evolution from the traditional plastic straw to more sustainable solutions is a tangible example of how ecological innovations are changing our daily habits.
Until a few years ago, the plastic straw was an indispensable and widely used accessory in beverage consumption, but its non-biodegradable nature caused serious damage to the environment.
Hence the need to promptly develop more sustainable alternatives, made from environmentally friendly materials that degrade much faster than plastic, significantly reducing pollution.
ALPIPLAST: PRODUCTION OF BIODEGRADABLE STRAWS
In response to the urgent demand for sustainability in our industry, we at Alpiplast have directed all our resources and activities towards researching and experimenting with new materials that would best meet sustainability requirements, but without compromising the practicality and functionality of our products.
This has allowed us to convert a large part of our production towards environmentally friendly solutions such as:
- Paper straws: available in different sizes and colours;
- Tetrapack and brick paper straws;
- Biopot straws: made of 69% bio-based material (50% PLA, 19% sugar cane, glucose, etc.) and 31% minerals (calcium phosphate or magnesium sulphate);
- BioLig straws: made using lignin, a material derived from paper and wood production processes;
- Coffee bean straws: Bio Caf;
● BioThermo straws: certified compostable bioplastic material made from renewable raw material, mineral fillers, 60% bio-based.
The evolution of straws is an example of how small changes can have a big impact: abandoning plastic straws in favour of sustainable alternatives is an important step towards reducing plastic pollution and protecting the environment.
